About the Journal

About the Journal

The Journal of Society and Management Studies (JSMS) is a bi-annual, peer-reviewed, open-access multidisciplinary journal dedicated to advancing rigorous scholarship on the interactions between society and management. Published by the Management and Social Science Research Network (MSSRN), and drawing on a wide range of theoretical, empirical, and methodological approaches, the journal provides a forum for substantive academic debate in the society and management domain, while also highlighting relevant practical developments in the field. The journal welcomes critical and reflexive perspectives that challenge dominant managerial assumptions and examine how management knowledge is produced, applied, and contested in response to contemporary societal transformations across global contexts, including research addressing socio-economic development and management issues.

Particular emphasis is placed on scholarship exploring the societal implications of managerial and corporate practices, such as their impact on people, the sustainability of economic activities, the role of management education in society, and how social, ethical, and institutional concerns shape business, social, and organisational behaviour worldwide. The journal promotes multi-level and cross-contextual analyses spanning individuals, organisations, industries, and societal systems, positioning management as a socially embedded activity. By bridging management studies with the social sciences, JSMS advances both theory and practice while addressing contemporary societal and organisational challenges across diverse global contexts. Thus, JSMS has an inclusive ethos and is open to multidisciplinary domains, approaches, and philosophical underpinnings.

Aim of the Journal
